EU: German malt output in July-February increases, France’s barley usage for malt down this crop year

German malt production in July/Feb 2016/17 was 1.215 mln tonnes vs. 1,207 a year before, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their May report.

France Agrimer estimates the French barley usage for malt at 1.470 mln tonnes in the crop year, down slightly from 1.510 last year.

Defra estimates British barley use in the industry at 1.852 mln tonnes, down 22.000 tonnes. Changes are minor, the capacity use is still close to full employment.
